Commemorating all touched by the 2004 Tsunami

From Tina & Lothar (who was in Sri Lanka on Sunday 26 December), a small Labyrinth near the river Neckar. Heidelberg, Germany. Afterwards, they stayed a long time near the river." It was very misty and dull, the river had high water from a storm in the night before. There was a lot of driftwood and other things in the river and the water was very cloudy. After two hours the weather and the river changed completely. The sky was totaly blue and the river was mostly clean. It was impressive, like a natural cleaning."

The storm and sea raced to meet Henk Coppens, Selma Sevenhuijsen, and group in their labyrinth by the sea in IJmuiden, The Netherlands.

Kimberly & Jeff Saward, England, made their labyrinth out of "pieces of Roman pottery, oyster shells and stones, just above the flotsam line left by the tide at lunchtime, on the beach at Mayland sea this Sunday afternoon. The tide tonight will probably wash it away, the stormy weather and snow forecast for tomorrow will for sure..."
From Joerg Metzner- Lighthouse beach, Evanston, Illinois, USA, labyrinth on the frozen shores of Lake Michigan with Julie Siegel and Barbara Geiger.
Margaret and Anne "walked a labyrinth path into knee deep snow in central Minnesota, USA, this afternoon. It was beautiful, clean, cold. Walking so far through the deep snow was tiring--difficult on a small scale, and it felt like a prayer of connecting in a small way with the tsunami reality that was and continues to be extremely difficult. Because it was hard to do, we stayed focused on the hard experience at the same time we were in the midst of great beauty. There remained the tension between life-giving and over powering aspects of water in this prayer for us as well."
Diana of New York, USA, remembered privately. Thanks to the snow storm the water element came to her house.
“The Blizzard of 2005” created the perfect setting for Carol Comstock and group with raw materials for a snow labyrinth at the Great Lakes Gathering on Lake Erie, USA. Bell ringing and opening blessing signaled the commemoration’s beginning. White-outs from lake effect snow began to clear as the snow pilgrims meandered through the wind-compacted snow drift labyrinth and a blue sky began to peak through the snow clouds...
...after reading the closing blessing, red-faced and eager for warmth, the group moved to an indoor intimate location and walked a colorful 7-circuit labyrinth, “The Blessing Seed Labyrinth.” With a snowflake candle at the entry and a bowl of water placed in the center seed image, the group closed the circle by listening to “Abwoom,” a song of the Lord’s Prayer in Aramaic.
"Barbara Barnett and Iris Rountree, Canada, refresh the labyrinth in the snow for walkers .Prepared by Manitoba Government staff. The two-foot deep labyrinth is on the south-west lawn of the Manitoba Legislative grounds. We are facing west: to the left, about 300 feet, is the Red River. There were 45 walkers during a two hour period this afternoon."

North Avenue Beach, Chicago, Illinois, USA. From the center, you look out upon frozen Lake Michigan and the Chicago Skyline. The Isis Labyrinth by Kim Ciesla and Jane Seeman.
From Terry de Vries Nel, "Several people walked and a few kids ran the classical 7-circuit labyrinth I drew in the sand during low tide at the Strand, SOUTH AFRICA, sending their thoughts and prayers to the victims and survivors of the tsunami."
Ulrica Hume, created this labyrinth at Ocean Beach in San Francisco,
California. "I asked for a sign...then came across this large piece of
driftwood pointing heavenward in the sand."
